Dexter Gordon was a California-born tenor saxophonist, as well as an actor. Playing with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, Gordon is regarded as one of the finest jazz musicians ever. The "Sophisticated Giant's" career spanned over 50 years and he has been largely credited with establishing the modern jazz sound.
Today, the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra will play a lunchtime concert celebrating Gordon's life and career. Tickets are $15.00 and includes the price of a box lunch. Tickets to the lunch concerts usually sell pretty fast so make sure to get yours.
